CT Cadets pull off an improbable victory, coming back from a 4 run deficit to win 5-4. #49 Carter Buchanan got the complete game win while grinding through a lineup comprised of few college commits. The opposition got 6 2/3 from #8 Nick Chudy (Holy Cross), showcasing a low-80s FB with 3 serviceable off speed offerings. #21 came in to get the final out of the game. The Barnstormers showcased the most projectable two position players, as #13 Reinisch and #23 Bouari both proved to have offensive skills that will propel them to success at the college level.
CT Cadets vs CT Crush
CT Crush takes game 2 by a score of 4-1. They got a great outing on the mound from #7 Levi Delaney, a lean RHP that battled and got outs before giving way to #3 Ken Heon. The sidewinder picks up the save while showcasing a sinker/slider combo that induces ground ball outs. The Cadets got a good outing from #9 Ethan Cox, who grinded into the 6th inning. Offensively, the Crush got productive days from #4 Suab and #19 Valentine, each with big 2Bs. #6 Calash made the play of the day, as the strong 1B produced a web gem, as he reached over the fence at full speed to catch a P3.
CT Crush vs CT Moose
Crush take game 3 by a score of 2-1. A pitcher’s duel from the start, we got competing complete games, headlined by a Win for #33 Griffin Pontbriant. The big projectable RHP showed a three pitch mix for strikes that outdueled #44 Erik Gutowski. He countered with a tough luck loss, showing a primary FB/CB mix while mixing in a CH. The offensive standout of the day was Moose #10 Sam Smith, who showcased his natural raw power with a deep 2B off the top of the wall in LCF then later came around to score.
Saratoga Stampede 5 High Heat 9
High Heat took advantage of walks early to beat Saratoga in the opening game. Trevor Dennison showed well offensively and defensively.
High Heat 2 CT Crush 7
CT Crush jumped out to an early lead and were able to expand that lead as the game went on. Top performers from CT Crush were Greg Gorman and Dylan McCarthy.
CT Crush 6 Storm Brigade 5
CT Crush used a late rally in the bottom of the seventh to walk off on the Storm Brigade. The game ended with a play at the plate. Top performers from the Crush were Greg Gorman and Isaiah Gallagher, from the Storm Brigade Anthony DiNardo.
Storm Brigade 4 RI Prospects 9
RI Prospects jumped out to an early lead and were able to hold off Storm Brigades late rally. Top performer for RI Prospects was catcher Jacob Gaudrea who showed well defensively and hit a bases clearing 3 RBI triple to RF.
High Heat vs CT Crush
It was an 8-4 Crush victory but a good game from both sides. Both sides displayed solid play on both sides of the ball. Trevor Dennison has a great game at the plate including a triple to deep left center field, and also worked hard behind the plate. The highlight and best performance came from the Crush starting pitcher Trevor Maeike. He tossed a complete game and had all his pitches working. He commanded the zone. Got ahead with his fastball and stayed around the zone even with his misses. His curveball was on and he was throwing it for both a strike and an out pitch. A solid performance from the Crush starter was the focal point in their win.
CT Crush vs Storm Brigade
It came down to the last inning as the CT Crush walked off in the bottom half of the 7th inning. Both teams brought energy. The first baseman for the Crush # 34 (last name Golmia – no Roster) had a good game at the plate smashing a double to the right field wall for the second game in a row. The Crush were aggressive on the basepaths throughout the whole game, taking the extra base whenever they could. The pitching for the CT Crush would quiet the brigade bats and they put together a rally late in the game in the 7th. Loading the bases and then eventually ending it with a walk off single in between 3rd and short.
